Founded in 1996, NKHR is the first organization in the world dedicated to raising awareness for North Korean human rights. I first learned about NKHR through one of my professors at Yonsei University, who serves as the organization’s deputy director. In winter 2023, I joined NKHR’s youth program, NK Avengers, and shortly thereafter applied for an internship, which I held from January to July 2024. Even after completing my internship, I continued facilitating connections and events between NKHR and my graduate student organization, the Human Rights Hub (HRH). In the summer of 2025, I officially returned to NKHR as a foreign consultant.
